With key on power is then transferred through the no charge indicator light to the #1 spade on the alternator regulator connection.
Don't be surprised to find that the #2 wire only goes a short way into the harness and spliced into the "BAT" wire. The 1 wire regulator comes with a dust plug for the #1 & #2 terminals. Some other tidbits available from AC Delco for wiring up a 10SI, is wiring package 1870921 (for those 6 to 12volt conversions).

Splice a 10 gauge wire to the larger wire on the alternator plug. Use a solderless butt connector to make the splice. Make the wire long enough to connect to the same terminal on the starter solenoid as the battery positive cable and the alternator output wire. Connect the wire to the terminal with a solderless ring connector.
